I was bicycling in the San Francisco bay area before bicycling was cool. Once you physically get to the point where you can keep up and merge with traffic (street level, not the freeway) one can be less of a nuisance. The idiots that would do many of the actions mentioned in previous posts (riding side by side, acting like they own the road, etc.) pissed me off too. The best attitude to have as the bicyclist is assuming that no one can see you, that you are in everyone’s blind spot; when in doubt, pull over & wait for the danger to pass. It may be boring, but it is certainly healthier than acting like those pricks that own the entire road.

That's quite true. Such people do not pose a hindrance to traffic just like a motorcycle. It's really tough though to maintain even 25 mph speed, so it's rare to encounter such a cyclist.
