Carnival’s counter: How about a coupon for a free buffet lunch and $50 in match play at the tables on your next cruise?

I often wondered why people go to places that are impossible to exit (because you are in middle of an ocean) and crammed full of other people and cry when things go south?

$5,000 a month for life...this might actually help Carnival Corp. get more paying passengers, each hoping for an engine fire.

They want the money in lump sums based on government tables estimating their life expectancies. I bet they all have one attorney, and that HE is behind these "wants". His 1/3 of that half a billion or so will be a nice payday.

I’m not a CPA but 5000.00 sound like just about enough to push the average household into tax problems.

The case stems from the February 2013 incident when a fire broke out in the ship's engine room during a four-day cruise, leaving the ship without engine power and most of its electricity, forcing passengers to endure human waste running down hallways, limited water supplies, noxious odors and extreme heat. IOW, the conditions universally prevalent on ships prior to about the last 100 years or so.
