Reality tv is the BEST way to raise Christian kids.

Yeah? My kids are the same. It is amazing to see how propriety is treated these days. Doing the right thing is always harder, but always...the right thing.

This is unacceptable. How embarrassing for them to show up at their wedding without one abortion or STD.

I estimated that if the Duggar kids keep up the reproductive pattern of their parents, as does the next generation and so on, they’ll have about one billion descendants in 300 years. The Democrats might want to think twice about that demographic permanent majority claim.

The key is for conservatives to pass down their values to their kids. Conservatives reproduce more, but the liberals have the cultural transmission vehicles (schools, entertainment, media) under control.

If this (and their partner) is what they want, that's fine for them. But me personally, intimacy compatibility is paramount, and to have that as an unknown factor is too much (what if one or the other turns out to have problems ? Will a quick annulment be "acceptable" ?)

Given that they'd want to wait until Wedding Day just to kiss seems a bit much, especially considering that you'd be presumably going from first base to home run in a matter of hours. If it turns out well, that's fine. I just wouldn't want to take the risk.

Orthodox Jews have the same restrictions. “No touching”. They too have a ton of kids...on average 10 per couple. And they vote 68% Republican (2004 data).

Great old fashion values the Duggans have. Wish more had them.

Years ago I saw a TV show about a young Christian couple who were doing things the old-fashioned way. The young man asked the girl’s father for permission to court her. The couple was always chaperoned on their dates. The first time they kissed was at their wedding altar.

Of course, the TV show treated this like they were the biggest freaks ever born! The show followed up on them a year later. They were still together, had a newborn baby and were very happy. I wish I could remember their names. I think about them now and then and hope they’re still together and happy.

Son #3 got engaged January 24th. The wedding is going to be October 25th. He & his bride to be have dated for over 2 years. Son #3 is the asst. pastor at a non-denominational Christian church. He and his bride-to-be do not believe in sex outside of marriage.

That is why they’re getting married quickly ;-)

Seriously - I am so proud of my son to have such high ideals and to actually stick with them. They have kissed, but only closed lip kissing. Son #3 says anything else is for only after marriage.

I remember The Groucho Marx Show in the 1950s when he had a contestant on who had an enormous number of children. What Groucho said is not suitable for mixed company but it was hilarious. It had to do with the cessation of a certain act by the man compared to Groucho’s love of his cigars, and vividly stated.

Well, I'm going to go against the grain here and just say it. This is weird. And will likely lead to young, ill advised marriages.

Now I'm going to sit back and watch the flames.
