Like many of you here, I was looking forward to watching Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey last night.
But, also like many of you here, I was not looking forward to Obama's anticipated long-winded introduction, therefore I set my DVR to record the show, so that I could fast-forward through the intro. (some of you even declined to watch the show because of this intro)
However, when it came time to watch the show, I was pleasantly surprised, and a little bit embarrassed at my overreaction. The dreaded intro lasted less than 30 seconds!
Well, whaddaya know. Obama finally gave us a gift, sort of. Of course, a better gift would have been for him to not speak at all! :-D
I QUIT watching it after 5 minutes. WHY? Because the narrator’s voice was horrible. He has a tendency to drop syllables from his words and I had to strain to decipher. NOT WORTH IT. Affirmative action strikes (and FAILS) again!
I’ve always been a science geek and I’ve always been a conservative.
Somewhere around here I have a essay I wrote in the 3rd grade about how the sun and planets formed.
See obama’s face tends to ruin anything...but honestly, this show was disappointing.
I watched it. Loved it. Can’t wait to see it every week. The Obama stuff sucked, but it should be a 30-second, one time thing. Not a big deal.
I’ll be watching the next one. :)
I like eating squirrels.
I gotta disagree big time. Race has nothing to do with it. Tyson is good.
I prefer bunnies but squirrel doesn’t put me off at all.
Once the show got into the cartoon characters, I realized this is going to seriously suck.
I wondered why Zer0 would put his name on it!
But, then I realized the recent poll where 25% on Americans believe that the Sun revolves around the Earth, and Bingo, we struck the Zer0 voting base, thus his pie-hole at the beginning and the cartoons!
A show directed toward idiots!
BTY, I was surprised that we couldn’t raise Sagan’s series on Netflix. Would have thought it would be in the public domain by now.
He’s a fine scientist but I prefer Michio Kaku. There’s another black astrophysicist I like a lot too but I can’t think of his name. A skinny guy who wears glasses.
I watch “Through the wormhole” a lot. Its hosted by Morgan Freeman but its pretty good most of the time.
James Woods hosts “Futurescape” which is good. It deals with research going on and the possibilities of where it could lead.
but he is a commie, liberal, pinko socialist democrat....isn’t he?
“BTY, I was surprised that we couldnt raise Sagans series on Netflix. “
It was on Netflix a couple of months ago ... don’t know why they yanked it ...
Thanks - we recorded the show and plan to watch tonight. Glad to know the fast-forward will take less time than I anticipated, LOL! I’m trying to refrain from reading any “spoilers” about the show’s content itself.
That time would have been far better spent on Copernicus's and Galileo's actual work, along with the realization by one of Galileo's assistants (sorry, forgot his name) that Venus having both crescent and gibbous phases would prove that it passed in front of and behind the sun and would thus have to orbit the sun rather than the earth.
So far I was extremely disappointed with Cosmos 2.0. Too much "inspiring" music and repetition of the idea that space is really, really, really, really big and really (x4) old too. Tyson needed a good dose of "get on with it!"
Watched it on HULU about 20 minutes ago..
He did not speak at all....lol
My reaction too. How many times can you watch the space ship fly through the stars?
Space is really big and really old. There, I've ruined the series for you. :-)
My problem with the show wasn’t Obastard, it’s Tyson. He’s a Major League Clymer.
