In a flashback story told as the men rest on a rainy night, Sgt. Saunders recalls the experiences of himself and several other men on the day of the D-Day invasion, including tales about Braddock, who won the platoon pool for when the invasion would take place; Doc Walton, who was reluctant to go into battle; Caje (called "Caddie" in this episode), who is accompanied by another Cajun; and Lt. Hanley, who at the time was still a sergeant, and had little battle experience compared to Saunders. Following the landing, the men move inland and come upon a farmstead.......

I remember this show when I was a kid, would watch it as frequently as I could. One of the things I remember was the Vic Morrow character always saying to Kirby, “Kirby, take the point.” Always felt a little sorry for Kirby!
When I was young, six days a week we had a sit down supper. Mon - Fri was at 6:00 pm, Sunday at 1:00 two hours after we got back from church. Saturday was Mom’s day off, hotdogs, burgers, simple stuff like that. There were seven kids and the worse thing was to be late for dinner. Very few excuses accepted. Also, each kid would take turns saying Grace before dinner. Naturally, there were many arguments about who actually said Grace the night before. My brother and I used to see how fast we could say the Grace before getting caught. Funny how something can bring back a memory, I haven’t thought about racing through Grace in years.
I saw these when they were still not reruns, but that is the first time I ever saw the very first one
CAGE known as Caddie?? Was that his real name on the show?
And we always spelled it CAGE, is it supposed to be CAJ?
Semper Fi!
OooRah!
I have a lot of Air Force in my family! Someone had to break the mold! lol
Wiki says : Pierre Jalbert as PFC Paul "Caje" LeMay.......Caje for Cajun is my guess...
I remember Vic Morrow was the only one on TV who knew to fire the Thompson in bursts of 3 or 4 and not rattle off a whole clip each time.....
My old Man had a hand the size of a catchers mitt, screw up at the table an amazingly quick whack to the head. The Old Man loved proper decorum.
I thought about the Marines when enlisting, but out of respect and honor for my dad, who was a combat pilot in the Pacific in WW2, I opted for the Air Force.
