New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez needs a new hairdresser or a new stance on gay marriage.
Martinez was recently dropped by her hair stylist, Antonio Darden, who is gay.
Darden told a local news station that he cut the governors hair three times, but wont do it again as long as she continues to oppose gay marriage.
The governors aides called not too long ago, wanting another appointment to come in, he told KOB-TV. Because of her stances and her views on this, I told her aides no. They called the next day, asking if Id changed my mind about taking the governor in and I said no.
Martinez has said she believes marriage should be between a man and woman.
Darden, a popular stylist in Santa Fe and the owner of Antonios Hair Studio, has been with his partner for 15 years.
Its just equality, dignity for everyone, he said. Everybody should be allowed the right to be together.
Gay marriage is not recognized in New Mexico.
I'll take that bet. The MSM will probably trumpet this to the low information citizens for at least a week. To the MSM this is a legitimate payback to awful conservatives like Gov Martinez. As you stated, “Freedom of association for me but not for thee.”
Sue him. Time to fight fire with fire.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
You sue him just to get in his pocket....
But I am sure there may be a couple of laws on the books that would justify shutting the business down.
Remember the ‘We Reserve the Right’ sign only means anything as long as you are NOT weeweeing off the ‘government, local or otherwise’.
Discrimination is discrimination.
If you decide not to serve me because I don’t have a shirt on you can refuse to serve me because I am either ‘breaking your rule’ or your patrons find it offensive.
Unless it is a legal “LAW” you are discriminating against people with no shirts on.
Using the same logic, if two people with the same equipment are making out in your establishment and you throw them out or - in todays world - ask them to stop, you are opening yourself up to law suits and your customers don’t count - if they don’t like it they can leave
Definitely agree with the other posters that mentioned if ‘they’ don’t want you in their shop/store/bar - whatever - you are really using good sense not being there.
Even back in the 50’s when other kinds of discrimination were going on I sort of ‘reasoned’ that money is green and money is what keeps the business open so why turn away money?
Brings to mind the old one about the Jewish Department Store owner that was on a family vacation in Florida in March.
His kid says “Dad, how can we be here and a lot of our friends are still in school?”.
“Christmas son, Christmas”.
“Dad - We are Jewish, we don’t believe in Christmas.”
“That is right son, WE don’t but all my Christian customers do and if not for them, we would not be here.”
Our hair will look like crap and our curtains won't match (whatever it was they called that ugly green).
I think we can handle it ourselves, thankyouverymuch!
religious prejudice is a terrible thing.
perfect response, but we will never hear nor see of any such common sense action.
So it’s OK when a specially-privileged government-approved minority victim group discriminates?
Bingo!
He’s got a right to refuse service just like those bakers who won’t make a wedding cake for a gay couple.
Oh, wait.
Hair Stylist Refuses to Serve Customer Because of Gay Marriage
A homo doing what they want to forbid Christians from doing.
Find another hairdresser, pay HER twice as much as she was paying Antonio, and be very public about who is doing her hair, inviting everyone to come to her new hairdresser.
Nothing says screw you to Antonio like lots of money going elsewhere.
He has the right, I support his right.
Look at it this way, what would be your reaction if Nancy Pelosi and Hillary came into your business?
Poor Susana, she probably can find no one else willing to cut her hair in NM. She may have to drive over to AZ to get it done right.
Mrs WBill's has had the same male hairstylist for years. He designed and made her wedding veil & tiara, and helped with all of the flower arranging for the wedding.
I met him at the wedding. Pleasant fellow, but not the most macho guy I've met.
He then turned and introduced me to his wife. Absolutely *stunning* blonde, older lady. One of those awful (sarc) people who roll out of bed in the morning looking like a perfect 10. Turns out that they've been married for (now) 40-odd years and have five kids.
Go figure. :-)
Why was she patronizing this pervert in the first place? She thinks she’s part of the solution, when she’s actually part of the problem.
(The same is true of many women, I’m sad to say. I suspect the reason they accept and applaud sodomites is because they don’t like being under the authority of men.)
Yeah, pooor hairdresser, the HRC will destroy him /sarc
She should sue him and his salon — bankrupt the SOB. Good for the goose...
