Yes, those mid-70s Journey albums (pre-Steve Perry) are truly lost treasures. Just about everybody under 50 lumps Journey in with all the other 80s “power ballad” bands due to songs like “Open Arms” and “Lights” - not to mention one of the most overplayed songs of all time “Don’t Stop Believing”. I do have a soft spot for that later music as well but those early Journey albums (i.e. “Look Into The Future”) represent their artistic peak.
Journey was essentially a spinoff from Santana, with Gregg Rolie (that’s him singing ‘Evil Ways’), and Neal Schon.
