Journey was essentially a spinoff from Santana, with Gregg Rolie (that’s him singing ‘Evil Ways’), and Neal Schon.

I’ve got a great Journey story... The time - shortly after the release of their second album... The place - a Jr. College gym turned into a concert hall... The scene - Neal Schon soloing for about ten minutes at the end of one of their songs, lighting the whole place on guitar rock mastery fire for so long everyone was just standing there with our mouths open at the end... The act - Schon finishes the solo, on his knees at the front of the stage, head down, his Afro the size of a VW Bug, and he slowly looks up, covered in sweat, laughing, and says “top that, Carlos!”

Apparently when he was with Santana, he got pissed always being second banana.

Man, if I could have videoed that it would have gotten a million YouTube hits in a day.
