When I see dates listed as CE, I stop right there. Just tell yourself that "CE" means "Christian era" and "BCE" means "Before Christian era." Regardless of the rationale for changing the letters, they still refer to a specific event.

Perhaps, but I have seen it referred to as "Current Era". When I see "CE" or "BCE", I figure the tone is Politically Correct and set my filters accordingly, though I suspect that many who use this "updated" method do so because of peer pressure from within the community.

That is exactly the way I let my mind interpret it. As you say, it still refers to the lifetime of our Savior. The leftists know that we know that they know this, and it just irks them.
