the money quote:The situation is very unfortunate, Faris said, reading from a statement at a news conference. It does appear, at this time, that Deputy Knoxs actions were an appropriate response to what he reasonably believed to be an imminent threat to his life.
This sounds like something from The Onion.
It is a horrible event that the idiots we pay to go around collecting taxes and cracking skulls shot a dude with a cane thinking it is a rifle.
The very scary part is the Officer gets institutional sanction. That should chill your blood.
Much as I respect the job cops have to do(two of my cousins are cops) if they knew that every once and a while one of them is going to get blown away because some citizen seeing them drive by thought they were going to attack said citizen it might balance things out.
Chilling indeed-the only remedy that makes an impression anymore on these JBT’s and their enablers is to lawyer up and sue the respective city/county until their eyeballs fall out...
We no longer have brave cops. Just a bunch of trigger-happy punks. Bravery takes guts to use your brain to overcome fear and evaluate the situation before resorting to violence. Especially against seniors with disabilities, kids, and tail-wagging dogs. Bravery is now old school and out of fashion among cops. Sad.
