Dad Picks Up Daughter from Movies. Their Car Gets Rear-Ended. Then Their Evening of Terror Begins. Feb. 12, 2014 10:28am Dave Urbanski
Jay Christopher Jost Jr. had just picked up his daughter from the movies and was driving on a Raleigh, N.C. highway when, police say, he noticed a car following them.
The car rear-ended Josts Saab. Then kept hitting it. Again and again.
Image source: WTVD-TV Image source: WTVD-TV Police released chilling 911 audio as the terrifying situation unfolded Saturday night, Raleighs WTVD-TV reported:
Dispatcher: 911 Whats the location of your emergency?
Caller: Ive got a guy thats following me, and hes rear-ended me and now hes following me again.
Dispatcher: And what is your name?
Caller: He hit us again! Oh my God!
Dispatcher: And what is your name?
Caller: Hes just hit us twice!
Police said Josts voice was altered on the released recording to disguise it; his daughter is heard screaming in the background. The alleged attacker is Remy Blaisdell Gagon, 25, someone with whom Jost was not acquainted, police said.
Caller: (screaming) Jesus, he just hit me again!
Jost drove into a parking lot in front of a Whole Foods Market to wait for help, but Gagon reportedly followed them and continued striking Josts car.
Caller: Hes hit me three times now, and here he comes again.
Dispatcher: OK and youre like circling the Whole Foods parking lot?
Caller: Im trying to figure out what his plate is. (screaming) He just hit me four times now!
Caller: (screaming) Look, he just broke my window, broke my car. Im freaking out! Jesus! Hes trying to kill us! Please! My God someone! Please!
Police say Jost found the right moment to get his daughter out of the car so she could run inside the Whole Foods for safety while he waited outside, WFJA-FM in central North Carolina reported. Jost soon took cover inside the store as well but the suspect reportedly ran after him.
Police arrived and arrested Gagnon. There are conflicting news reports about whether police used force.
Jost and his daughter werent hurt, WTVD said. Gagnon was taken to a hospital, then released, and remains in police custody at an undisclosed location, WFJA reported.
Police say he faces two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of simple assault for kicking an EMS worker and biting a firefighter and one count of careless and reckless driving.

Police spokesman Jim Sughrue told TheBlaze on Wednesday that Gagnon is presently receiving care at a medical facility that police cannot disclose, and will be formally charged when hes well enough.
The public defenders office in Wake County said Gagon has not been assigned an attorney and no court date for a preliminary hearing has been set, WFJA reported.
Carolyn Floyd, Josts sister, told WJFA she doesnt know what triggered the attacks but that her brother acted bravely to save his daughter.
I just believe that my brother is a hero, Floyd said. He is an absolute hero.
No kidding

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while interned as a prisoner of war of the enemy Japanese in the city of Makassar, Celebes, Netherlands East Indies, in April 1942. Acting instantly on behalf of a naval officer who was subjected to a vicious clubbing by a frenzied Japanese guard venting his insane wrath upon the helpless prisoner, Comdr. (then Lt.) Antrim boldly intervened, attempting to quiet the guard and finally persuading him to discuss the charges against the officer. With the entire Japanese force assembled and making extraordinary preparations for the threatened beating, and with the tension heightened by 2,700 Allied prisoners rapidly closing in, Comdr. Antrim courageously appealed to the fanatic enemy, risking his own life in a desperate effort to mitigate the punishment. When the other had been beaten unconscious by 15 blows of a hawser and was repeatedly kicked by 3 soldiers to a point beyond which he could not survive, Comdr. Antrim gallantly stepped forward and indicated to the perplexed guards that he would take the remainder of the punishment, throwing the Japanese completely off balance in their amazement and eliciting a roar of acclaim from the suddenly inspired Allied prisoners. By his fearless leadership and valiant concern for the welfare of another, he not only saved the life of a fellow officer and stunned the Japanese into sparing his own life but also brought about a new respect for American officers and men and a great improvement in camp living conditions. His heroic conduct throughout reflects the highest credit upon Comdr. Antrim and the U.S. Naval Service.

Today they would be charging him with interfering with the guard doing his duties.....
He was so successful am surprised a couple of the other prisoners didn’t figure he was collaborating with the enemy.
Of course, the Japanese didn’t have much use for POW’s, their thought being you were a man to die for your Emperor and only a coward would surrender.
As a rule the US Naval POW’s were treated somewhat ‘milder’ by the Japanese Naval types, guess something to do with the ‘go down to the sea in ships’ code.
The Army and fishermen didn’t share the Navy’s view and I guess NO one had any quarter cut when they were being transported to the Home Island, often using the POW Transports as bait or as ‘targets’ to protect the fleet.
Surprised in April 42 they didn’t kill him outright. This citation always gets to me.

AFTER killing 10 or 20 more just to give other people the ‘right’ message....
Kudoos to the CDR, that citation looks like it came from a script writers pad and also amazing that anyone that was a POW in early 42 was still alive to tell the story...
That is the type Man ADM Nimitz was referring to —
“Uncommon valor was a common virtue,” 1st MARDIV...
“Crazed White Man Kills Mentally Disabled Man Over Fender Bender.”

Yes, this is the real conundrum.
I see a vast number of FReepers who are big talkers on the right to carry a gun at all times. I would hate to think that America has yet reverted back to the days of the wild west.
I just can not imagine living in a society where I thought that I would have to be armed at all times.
At home, I would be happy with a shotgun, but I can not imagine living in a “Don’t leave home without it” society.
I’m glad he wasn’t armed, considering the way he incompetently handles a mere phone.
I always wonder why guns are the first resort of armchair warriors!
Actually no. His brother appears to be a varsity baseball team member at Pembroke College (what was in Jim Crow days a state school for Indians) in North Carolina and his brother's picture is what we would call ‘white’ although he may be some sort of light skinned mixed race background. This incident sounds like a psychotic event maybe caused by steroid abuse. Race doesn't seem to be involved. What is interesting is that there are no pictures of the perpetrator. That might mean the family is in some way politically connected.
Heads up dawwwwwwwwgs, the coward is lecturing, (well, trying to anyway, in his very own chickenshi$t style), the ‘big talkers’ here on FR that chose to carry concealed. So stay away little fella and you will not have to worry about those big bad carry guns that we folk pack. Hey and in America even those black folks you seem to dislike, (Oh yeah, we saw your little ‘mention’ of ‘em from the other night), can carry a weapon to defend themselves and their loved ones! How about that?! WHERE IS THE QUOTE LIAR?
Re your post 45, I suppose living in your island paradise you never ever run across anyone who would do you harm. Yet, there remains the far-out possibility that someone someday may and they may be so unkind as to do it when you’re away from home, not that it would make any difference because I believe you are disarmed there in Paradise, no?
Hi Dawgs,
I forgot to get you on the recipients list of my post to AlexW.
Hey dim bulb...read some history. The "Wild West" was a creation of Hollywood and the dime novels. Crime rates were higher in places like Boston, New York, Cincinnati, Philadelphia and so on, than they were in most western cities and towns. People seem to think Deadwood, Dodge and Tombstone are representative of the real West -- they aren't. Of course, I can't expect a cowardly, lying, dullard like you to be able to grasp the difference between what's real and what isn't.
Which reminds me...where's the quote, liar? Still too afraid of me to man up and admit you lied? Pathetic.
"I just can not imagine living in a society where I thought that I would have to be armed at all times."
Of course you can't, because you're a coward. A lowly, yellow-bellied worm. I'm always armed, and it's very reassuring. You, OTOH, live in a nation where you can't be armed, and will therefore have nothing with which to keep the Muzzies from sawing your cowardly head off in a banana grove.
"...but I can not imagine living in a Dont leave home without it society."
Don't worry, chicken, you don't. You won't ever have to be bothered with that pesky responsibility of protecting yourself and your family from the Muzzies and their rusty machetes. You can just smile and feel soooooooo sanctimonious as they lead you all off to the banana grove...
Where's the quote, liar?
Thanks for the heads up, Bobby, and welcome to the dawg pound, Zonio...woof, woof!
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Finally, a picture of the road rage rammer.

BOOYAH!!
Bannana grove dittos and the BOOYAH!!! Alex: “Git those done first sis, then the garbage goes out also!” The ‘Dish-washer’: Mister Alec, Mister Alec, muslims with dull blades right outside our hut! You want dish-washing appliance still take garbage out?” Alex: “Dummy up an let me think.......I got it! I’m calling America right now for help!” DWA: “Okay good Mister Alec.....but tell the Americans to bring big guns!”
Does the phrase “A man’s got to know his limitations” ring a bell?
Sounds pretty pathetic, if you ask me.
Might I suggest further study, then?
Let me get this straight: you're suggesting we evaluate this father's performance in a real-life violent conflict by...feelings?
