As if it isnt enough we have to battle BOTH parties to keep tens of millions of illegal invaders from being handed amnesty, we also have to fight just to maintain our common language. And as with the La Raza Studies battle in Tucson, Arizona is once again the battlefield.
An Arizona college is being sued for labeling a student a bigot and punishing her with a long-term suspension after she requested that English be used in her nursing studies class so she could learn the subject.
The action was filed against Pima Community College on behalf of student Terri Bennett, who alleged that school officials created a learning environment [that] was hostile to her as an English-language speaker.
The case will proceed to trial in March.

If I decide to go to school in Mexico I will expect to learn Spanish, and will expect it to be the language of the classroom. Nursing classes in the United States should be taught in English, and if a student is not proficient in English they need to become so in order to study nursing here...or hire a tutor to work with them outside the classroom.
Not to throw any more fuel on a fiery discussion, but...oh shoot, why not!?
Meine Frau works in the local hospital. To her way of thinking, there is nothing more arrogant than a Spanish-speaking (and English-speaking) patient refuses to speak English to her when scheduling an appointment.
Unless, of course, it’s the person who drives up in a black Cadillac and is adorned with gold jewelry who expects to be given free medical care because they’re on welfare. “I want my ObamaCare, now!!!”
Read the article. Or just the headline. Your talking points are worthless here. Senseless and incoherent
As those of us that live on the border know too well...that welfare person demanding Obama care is more likely to be speaking Spanish than English...
I know politicians are promising us illegals will not qualify for O care...all the while they are saying that they are busy trying to figure out how to get them covered...and so it goes.
I refuse to learn spanish and I refuse to allow my sons to learn it either. Sie koennen zum Hoelle gehen.
Why?
Get away from me
I thought I did, but for some reason you had to reply.
You really need to work on how to handle disagreement. Stamping around and screaming is for 3 yr olds.
The pillow sessions did not, I trust, involve nurses from the Pima County Community College Nursing Course? But then qu'on conçoit bien , on dit bien, ne ç'est pas?
As far as skipping Catholic school goes .... well that could be a good thing. Those constant smacks on the hand with the steel ruler often lead to "Catholic School Hand," that is arthritic knuckles.
Then you're certainly more worldly than I because I have yet to meet a real Frenchman........not that I really care to.
So, you have no explanation why Americans should, as you demand, be forced by a govt school to learn a foreign language. Again, why?
When they tell you you are bossy and condescending. Think about it
Pot, meet kettle.
The crazy thing is, I don’t think we disagree on the basic premise, that English should, without question, be the official language of government, business and education.
Frankly, I’m not even sure what you’re pissed off at me about. What did I post that got you so riled? Does saying that I want my kids to learn Spanish so wrong to you?
IF you want them to learn an additional language, the best advice has already been given. Have them take Latin
And of course you live in Maryland where what you really need to learn is how to double speak governmentese
And just where do you propose they take it? I wish Latin WAS still taught, but around here it hasn’t been for at least 30 years. Besides, Latin isn’t an “additional” language, it’s a basic primer for many languages.
I don’t like the immigration facts any more than any other conservative. But even without an amnesty, the fact remains that Spanish is becoming more and more a commonplace fact in this country. WHAT is so terrible about my wanting my kids to learn the language that is going to be a dominant factor in this country in the next generation? More skills = More opportunity.
2 - Maryland isn't exactly a homogenous society. I'll venture to say it's one of the more diverse population centers in the country, esp. where we live (central state). Hispanics are here in droves, but Asians are EVERYwhere. Along with just about everybody else.
