You might well think that the catastrophic destruction of firearms caused by shooters leaving their cleaning rods inside their guns was a rare occurrence, but you would be wrong. It happens far to often. These photos show what happens when a cleaning rod is left in a .338 Lapua Magnum rifle. A member of the SnipersHide forum reported that this KABOOM happened two benches down from him at the range. The shooter only sustained minor injuries. Two holes were punched in roof and pieces of the rifle were scattered around the range.

A cleaning rod was supposedly left in the tube and another ‘San Francisco’ BuFu jam is born!!!
Damn .... That almost never happens ......:o)
Still, not a good thing to shoot your ramrod across the field while you’re in the midst of battle.
It would probably be a little embarrassing to have to run out in front of everyone to retrieve your ram rod, especially if everyone else was retreating.
“Hey! A little help over here, somebody!?!”
I could not afford the ammo for a .338 Lapua Magnum. Academy keeps them behind the gun counter. They put out their .50 BMG out on the floor. It sells for around $65.00 for 10 rounds. If I am not mistaken the Lapua is more expensive than .50 Caliber.
If you’re too dumb to take the cleaning rod out, you’re too dumb to own a gun
I guess if you can afford a $5,000-$6,000 rifle and scope, you can afford $10 per round ammo.
or neck them wrong maybe.
I’m no reloading expert by any means but if I’m shooting reloads and I have to keep pushing spent cases that won’t extract with the extractor on the gun then I’m not going to keep shooting those till I figure out the PROBLEM
exactly!
I still have around 20 boxes of Lapua 6.5X55 match. It was actually very reasonable at $10.50 for a box of 20. Unfortunately it is berdan primed.
According to the box it is only 2760 joules (2036 ft. lbs.) which should be pretty mild. despite that, it seems to kick pretty hard from my 29 inch Carl Gustavs. It is accurate tho.
For Me ONE TIME!
I’ve said for a long time:
The only reason the Human Race has survived this long is because of mass procreation because there are WAY TOO MANY STUPID PEOPLE OUT THERE.
.338 lapua is a big kaboom.
SoCal price on 338 Lapua,,,116 bucks for 20 rounds,,,
must be nice.
I remember Skeeter Skelton admitted accidentally shooting his TV set. The point was everyone does something stupid some time in their life.
Kaboom ping
Shooting the TV?
Well, that’s something I can understand...
