Market Connections, based in Chantilly, Va., performs polls, surveys and other research for federal agencies and contractors. When the firm conducted the survey of 370 civilian and defense workers for the newsletter FierceGovernmentIT, Market Connections President Lisa Dezzutti expected the percentage of employees who acknowledged considering a job switch to be "a big number." But she didn't anticipate it would reach 50 percent.

Half of federal employees leaving government will be disappointed on both compensation and accountability expectations as compared to government jobs.
OH MY!!
“They would be required to WORK and PRODUCE something.”
Exactly. based on experience, there’s only 1 thing they mutter when we had ex-govt employees which is “Well, this never happened when I was with the union...”
These clowns are trained in the mentality of being untouchable and un-fire-able..
The ignorance and jealousy in many of these posts are appalling. Do you people ever research, analyze or even think before your knee jerk reactions?
TC
Ha Ha-
My wife has worked for the govt. for over 30 years!
She has seen my pay cut 30-40% - I do not get ANY
benefits- guess what?—
No one at her “govt. job” will talk to her any more -
She is entitled to a Pension-almost 60 % of salary
She will get health benefits
the Govt matched her 401 K-
At 63 she could start her Social Security
She currently earns 5+ weeks of vacation and 11 holidays
She has accumulated more than 750 Hours of “sick time”
She gets “longevity Pay!”!! which is a lump sum payout
at Christmas of $1300 dollars- everyyear now for the Kicker-
She makes more than 30% than me. and Could retire-NOW
I love my Wife-
When she tries to tell others how GOOD we are doing-the
other “workers “ just don’t believe her-
NOT ONE OF THEM WOULD MY BOSS EVER-EVER HIRE!
They live in a fantasy - O’BUMMER CARE LAND where they
believe the Private sector workers all make Millions.
What greener pastures? They will never get the salaries or bennies in private enterprise that they have with Uncle Sam.
Ignorance? Jealousy? Ignorance of what...I am aware than many/most government employees are slackers and unproductive. Jealousy of what...I do not care to be made soulless and a drone.
Exactly-
But, see my post- they will Not believe you!
“Half of federal employees considering leaving for the private sector, survey finds”
Bwahahaha. That is beyond funny.
The private sector isn’t that green any more.
I’ve seen many an outstanding defense contractor worker displaced by these civil servants and they end up getting social security on top of it. I’ve seen several government reduction in forces over the years and to a man they think they can get hired by the company that was working with their projects. Everyone thinks defense contract workers are making a a killing but their companies have to bid on projects and it’s been a race to the bottom over the years. I saw companies with great benefits replaced with companies with no benefits that won the bid. The workers rates mostly are determined by the wage and determination in any certain area can/is manipulated at times for political reasons. Nearly all the civil servants hired with these companies are never under the wage and determination of course. Why any company would hire an ex-civil servant as a project manager is beyond me. I liked working with the government guys that actually made things, but there was an endless stream of overseers too. Those types usually were milkers and obstructionist from my experience and the very people the company should not have hired.
Bull. When faced by reality they will realize they can’t take a 50% cut in pay for double the hours.
I thought this was SOP. It’s called the double dip. Once they qualify for retirement, they retire and take a private sector job.
They have salary plus retirement pay. I have prepared tax returns for many of these individuals.
Once Obama has complete dictatorial control he no longer needs their votes. The talented ones will leave on their own.
They should be preparing for their layoffs after the interest rate hikes and bond collapses.
I say to the Baltimore Sun:
Good. Then fire 80% of the remainder.
