It allegedly started with her jogging in her toe shoes and sporting headphones. It ended in video of her screaming and being led away in handcuffs. What happened in between is a matter of debate, but video showing parts of the incident is certainly gaining traction online.
Whatever the woman did to get the attention of Austin, Texas police, a witness video of cops detaining her on a city sidewalk Thursday morning then escorting her to a nearby squad car indicate she was not happy with their actions.

Student Chris Quintero, who the Daily Texan reported witnessed the arrest, said he saw the woman jogging with headphones on when police ran after her. When the woman failed to stop, the officer grabbed her by the arm and handcuffed her, Quintero said.

According to a statement to The Daily Texan from police spokeswoman Lisa Cortinas: [In this case], the call is titled failure to identify.

Well, obviously from the picture we can see that we’re dealing with a hardened professional criminal here.
There is only going to be one way. Hint,Hint, wink,Wink.
If I’m not mistaken, there are headphones that allow ambient sound to enter.
“One point APD would like to clarify is section 38.02 of the Texas Penal Code: Failure to Identify-(a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally refuses to give his name, residence address, or date of birth to a peace officer who has LAWFULLY ARRESTED the person and requested the information...
...The female was arrested for Failure to Identify...”

So let’s see-— “failure to identify” is a crime IF you’ve first been “lawfully arrested”-—and they arrested her for “failure to identify”. Seems like a “you can’t get there from here” or circular reasoning situation to me. But what do I know; I’ve never been able to understand progressives’ logic.
Do you drive with your windows shut and the radio on?
Another big thing is they send out people doing license plate checks, looking for parked cars with expired registrations....You know those cars people are forced into registering the same car over and over and over and over and over...
It’s a massive government racket which rakes in lots of money for their retirement pensions.
All they really had to say was “you live in a police state, live with it or we will shoot your dog”
LOL.........speaking as an Austin resident for 65 years (except 2 years in the military overseas and 15 months in the Caribbean), I have been stopped by Austin Police many times.
Austin is a typical big City and has a typical big city police department. Some of the cops are professional. Some are indeed donut munchers and room temperature and that is a compliment, in some cases.
That said, and I know some will disagree, this girl violated rule # 1 in dealing with a cop. That rule is shut the F up! Be polite and don’t admit to anything. Just say you won’t answer questions, other than your name, without talking to your lawyer.
And, for damn sure don’t be kicking at the cops or cussing them. That is just plain stupid.
Me too. 25 years and 25,000 miles and not one close call.
That's why issuing her a ticket just wasn't enough. Gotta handcuff her and round up four cops to stuff her into a police car. I'm just surprised SWAT wasn't called in to assist.
But maybe the Austin SWAT was busy subduing some kid who was running an illegal lemonade stand.
Also know as the "We'll do anything for a buck" Initiative.
I never had a moment’s concern about things like this until recently.
Sounds like behind the lines in enemy territory...
Name, rank and serial number....
Welcome to 2014 America.
“I feel like this stuff is getting out of control and it seems to be happening in all areas of the country and at all levels of enforcement.
I tell you, this is an issue that can unite left, right and middle.
It is unacceptable that law enforcement is acting as if the general public are a bunch of criminals who should be summarily arrested, brutalized or killed.”
Because they know we won’t stop them. Us law abiding citizens are much easier to handle and have more $$$$ to pay their fines and help subsidize their retirements rather than the real criminals who carry unregistered, concealed weapons.
elkfersupper ~ Yes, they are. Or the citizens could simply tell them to knock that crap off.
Killer cops arent welcome here! Officer Who Murdered Kelly Thomas, Driven Out Of Restaurant
You seem to have the believe that cops are courteous from the get go.
Call me old-fashioned....Has common sense left the state? Always carry ID and this practice of running with both ears plugged up - safety? I just don’t understand...
She jaywalked...
Usually happens in every city that has a large university
