The militarization of US police forces is ongoing and escalating. Many cities and towns now own tanks, armed personnel carriers, even attack helicopters, and almost all are outfitted with military weapons not available to the general public.
And, it is not just your hometown cops who are getting new boy-toys. The military itself is buying up weaponry not just for use in the current or next scheduled war, but to deal with the likes of you...
Also ignored (as if it didnt even exist) is the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 which generally bars the military from law enforcement activities within the United States.
According to Public Intelligence:
for the last two years, the Presidents Budget Submissions for the Department of Defense have included purchases of a significant amount of combat equipment, including armored vehicles, helicopters and even artillery, under an obscure section of the FY2008 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the purposes of homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities.
and the US government knows that civil uprisings are coming to a town near you just as soon as the fantasy of a healing economy is shattered, the US dollar fails, and unemployment goes to 30%+ in real numbers.
And, to you tough-talking Neo-Cons with your AR-15 rifles and a few thousand rounds of ammo, here is the reality: they will take your guns, and no, all your Second Amendment bluster aside, you are not going to do anything about it. You are not going to take on a platoon of Marines with state-of-the-art automatic weapons...

“Anyone who waits for their weapons to be confiscated, has waited too long to successfully use them.”
The police will begin the raids and a goodly percentage of the firearms out there (not involved in the initial raids) will just vanish — poof!
I’ve often said we’ve passed or are approaching the point of no return. However, incidents like Ukraine and Egypt make me think we’re nowhere near the point of no return. The people of Iran were on the brink of overthrowing their government without any guns. Even if 99.9% of American gun owners submit, that leaves over 2,000,000 angry gun owners. What could 2,000,000 dedicated patriots do? Nothing if the government threw its full force into crushing them. But they couldn’t, and even if they tried 2,000,000 would turn into 20,000,000 over night.
No, but those Marines took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and most of them are smart enough to know when their orders countervene the Constitution - don't tell the leftists.
Ever heard of asymmetrical warfare, Jim?
5.56mm
No of course not, that would be foolish, 1st rule of Warfare, YOU pick the time and place to fight the battle... Me and other gun owners might very well make a mental note of which local law enforcement are helping in these raids on our fellow gun owners and are obeying unconstitutional orders and pay them a "visit" at their homes, while they are having a nice quiet movie night with their families. And those well armed marines..., have to take off that body armor off and sit down to eat or sleep sometime, perhaps a "visit" while are group are eating at the local buffet and relaxing after a raid?
They could never get away with a USA wide forced confiscation. I don’t believe the military would stand for it. At least the grand majority.
If you aren't going to use them at that point, you might as well toss them in the river.
Hiding weapons so they are found by a police state is liking hiding an umbrella, so that it doesn't get wet.
My neighborhood homeowner’s association doesn’t allow tanks or MRAPs in the subdivision.
The HOA is pretty darn militant...
We could have, if not for the orders from the top to play nice with the Taliban instead of utterly crush them.
A recurring theme in Scripture is God allowing the wicked to grow stronger and stronger so that when he destroys them their fall is even greater... and more humiliating in it’s futility over against his awesome eternal power!
For those who DO turn them in..........
It doesn’t end well. Think of the tens of THOUSANDS of US military POW’s left to the commie gulags over that last few wars(Starting with WW I)!
Ya think OUR bunch of commies are BETTER?
Americans have been conditioned to passively accept a steady erosion of their personal liberty. The federal behemoth runs roughshod over them everyday and demands ever increasing compliance with an avalanche of new rules, taxes, regulations, intimidation and now personal surveillance on a level never before imagined. Most Americans are content to allow this creeping incursion of authority.
As far as resistance is concerned, its nearly impossible to get Americans off their couch to even attend a Tea Party rally. The Founding Fathers would be ashamed of us.
Don't bet your life on that.
And then the police stations will themselves be raided.
Not a good thing for the police to lose the public’s trust.
Then many of those Marines with their powerful weapons would be switching sides.
Precisely. The article presumes that you will be waiting inside your house. That would be foolish. When confiscation starts, the place to respond is as far away from your premises as possible. Public roads can be a dangerous place.
Vest or no vest, .44 mag cast core will do in at least the first one. I aim center of mass, and then for the nuts.
Not only do they have to get out of tanks, but they have to get them from point A to point B, while hoping that its not a trap. Tanks without infantry support are just mobile coffins.
Wasn’t there only pistols and molitov cocktails that held off the nazis in the Warsaw ghetto?
The Iranians were not going to overthrow the Islamic Republic without arms. That’s why they were begging the US for aid in that arenaand Obama utterly refused.
