The U.S. men's hockey team sure looked baffling in these Olympics. They looked like the team to beat after the preliminary round, then went down in two straight shutouts in the medal round. As I watched them play this time around I thought they were better suited to a 2010 Olympic tournament that was played on a smaller rink with NHL dimensions.

Was there a more disappointing player than Patrick Kane in these Olympics? He now holds an unusual Olympic record: He's the only player in history ever to be awarded two penalty shots. He had them both in one game today -- and he failed to convert on either one of them. Then he took that lazy penalty early in the third period when the game was still 2-0, and Finland scored that third goal to effectively put the game out of reach.

Absolutely gutless by the US.

The good news is that they were done in by a couple of Dallas Stars, Jamie Benn and Kari Lehtonen.
