Police in Georgia on Friday served a warrant for a probation violation at the trailer park home of a man and his son, a 17-year-old aspiring Marine. In the process of serving the warrant on the boy's father, an officer fatally shot the teen.
His crime: according to his attorney, he did nothing more than answer the door while holding a controller of a Nintendo Wii.
Police in Euharlee, Georgia - about 50 miles northwest of Atlanta - however, claim that Christopher Roupe pointed a gun at the female officer when he opened the door, which prompted her to fire a live round at the aspiring military man.
No witnesses reported seeing the boy holding any weapons, and authorities won't say whether a weapon was found at the scene.
'It just doesn't add up,' Cole Law, who is representing the Roupe family, told wsbtv.com.
As for the claim that Roupe was holding a gun, Law says he's seen no evidence supporting the officer's claim.
'We don't know where that statement came from. The eyewitnesses on the scene clearly state that he had a Wii controller in his hand. He heard a knock at the door. He asked who it was, there was no response so he opened the door and upon opening the door he was immediately shot in the chest,' Law said.....

Only one female officer picture missing.
Hmmn.
Post #79 has pictures of the officers of the department — though there is one missing.
It's good training for 'field' work
Hidden because they will say someone will seek vengeance. But if you or I shoot someone for no good reason we will have our photos and life plastered all over
LEO asskissers here
Good lord
There were two officers —
GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that two Euharlee police officers were serving two probation violation warrants Friday night when a 17-year-old boy opened the door with a gun pointed at them.
There were two officers there.
So someone else on that wall of pictures was there when he was shot and participated in the cover-up.
Where have you been? This forum is loaded with those who worship authority and prefer to be ruled [controlled] rather than led [governed], they are also known as jackboot lickers, badge lickers, and cop worshipers.
Don’t know, having no insight into the officer’s hyperactive imagination.
Ditto on the trailer park rant! I have known a lot of people that live in them (relatives included) and some are quite nice; better than a lot of “normal” neighborhoods. In some places in the country, trailers just make sense.
I’ll do it since nobody else will:
Females shouldn’t be cops or soldiers.
They can be spies, analysts, etc. They can’t be cops. It’s a dumb idea and it jeopardizes the lives of innocent civilians. They go to the gun first.
For her to shoot like that she had to:
1. Have already had the gun drawn.
2. Been so scared that she fired at the site of anything black (I have a Wii, and I guarantee the controller he was holding was black, and it doesn’t look anything like a gun).
3. Had no faith in her partner at all in serving a warrant. (Why was she the one knocking if she was so scared she was going to get drawn on?)

The kid she shot-killed was white
Then no citizen is safe, anywhere. Even in his own bed.
Okaaaay. The Wii controller in his hand was likely BLACK. I never mentioned race of anybody involved, and I think race is immaterial here.
“’We don’t know where that statement came from. The eyewitnesses on the scene clearly state that he had a Wii controller in his hand. He heard a knock at the door. Premeditated murder.
“The officer who fired the fatal shot has been placed on administrative leave as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.”
Someone who felt horrific guilt due to an accident which resulted in another human’s death would resign or accept criminal liability. She takes a vacation.

But the Internet is hard to completely scrub. radaris.com has
Beth Myspace My name is Nancy Beth Gatny, Beth Gatny to those who know and love me, Officer Gatny to those who don't and I used to be Beth Daniel of Lebanon, Mo. ...(the myspace link is dead) The page has her being in Cartersville, GA
I'll agree with that. Its common sense.
But we live in a society where common sense is considered evil.
“Then no citizen is safe, anywhere. Even in his own bed.”
That’s correct, especially one holding something in their hands. This isnt the first time something like this has happened.
