One reason I'm not a big fan of young girl sopranos is that, no matter how talented they are, no matter how good their technique is, they can't really interpret a song because they have nothing to interpret with. I'd rather listen to Johnny Cash singing "Danny Boy" - after his stroke - than a young girl soprano, because Johnny was intimate with loss and death.
It reminds me of when we saw a high school production of Macbeth. Talented cast, put a lot of work into it, but Lady Macbeth was rather prim and schoolmarmish ... and I told my husband that I would be worried about a high school girl who understood Lady Macbeth the way I do!
You really ought to give a listen to more of Jackie's music. She is truly something above and beyond the average young girl soprano. It's not just talent and technique with her. She brings a depth of soul to her singing that is far beyond her years.
