Q: How old were you when you got your first pair of pointe shoes?

A: I was nine years old when I got my first pair of pointe shoes, which is extremely young. I was in a dance class with girls that were a year or two older than me but it was still pretty young to be dancing en pointe.

Thanks. I think I really need to learn the lingo since it looks like Grace may be doing this a lot longer than I originally thought.

I remember thinking it was just a phase she was going through like boys do in sports, but she seems to really serious, and that is something you don’t know until they have been doing for awhile. Well, she is 11, so I thinks it’s a serious thing with her.

Oh, Now I got it. Grace has been going to dance classes since she was 5 or 6 I believe. I used to think her mom was more into it, but I soon realized that both Grace and her little sister Hope were real excited about it.

Well, you see she was scheduled 1.5 hrs/wk pointe work, there’s a reason for that. Make sure you ask her about that, you’ll get an earful :_)

Good for her!! Mine is now dancing in college on scholarship but happiest when she is home during the summer dancing with her school and company she grew up with. Tell your granddaughter to keep up the good work

from what I understand she is doing more than just ballet. She is doing other forms also. You can check out some of the other video her mother has uploaded to see if you like. This is her doing an improv I guess.
