LOL !
Ye”a ...BTW - Im 61”
So is hubby, which I mention because he mentioned it to me.
Did we ever think we’d get this old, back in the not really so long ago days?
True story: I was in Dodge City, Kansas, about 35 years ago for a friend’s wedding. At the time, they had no bars in the city (or maybe even in the state), but they had “clubs”, where you paid $1.00 for a lifetime membership (to drink). So, while we were in there, cowboys - not city-slickers in $500 outfits, but real, honest-to-god cowboys who had been bringing in some cattle - stopped into the bar after, no doubt, they got paid. There was a dearth of women in the bar, so they danced with each other - to “Whip It”. It was an absolutely surreal scene.
Before that, they were quirky and different. My personal favorite was "Jerking Back And Forth" from a 1981 album.
I was a huge New Wave fan back in the day. In addition to Devo, you had The Cars, Blondie, B-52s, Missing Persons, Joe Jackson, Echo & The Bunnymen and scores of other bands I could name.
Makes me feel old that they are starting to die off.
And every single night
before I go to bed
I get down on my knees and thank God
I’m a Secret Agent Man
/RIP
When I think DEVO, I think of the movie Heavy Metal. Through Being Cool and Working in a Coal mine were the 2 songs I recall from the movie. Odd band but I liked them.
Say Hello to Mr. Kamikaze and Mr. DNA, Bob.
The only band that could get away with covering “Satisfaction.”

Hehe...I can imagine ...Reminds me of the time my ( rock ) band was hired by an ad agency in Tokyo to dress up like cowboys and play C&W music in front of one of the most popular dept. stores in one of the busiest areas ( Shibuya ) of Tokyo ( and in other cities across Japan - good buckeroos ) \. Surreal - esp. in the early evening with all the neon glowing .
Hehe, how long ago was that? I’m sure we have some music acquaintances here. Music is my main thing living in Tokyo.
early 90’s . It was for a Marlboro cig national campaign / promo . We did it 3 springs/summers in a row from May to August on weekends , traveling all over Japan . Got paid $ 1200 a day EACH ! So $ 2400 for the weekend + hotel , meals , transporation , etc...Name of my band was Hotel No-Tell . The band was formed in the early 80’s and I joined in early 1986 . Played with them until 1995 when I moved down to Kyushu .
ping for home
Go figure.........
Devo came out while I was in freshman year at college.
Went to a party one night, smoked pot for the first time.
