Hundreds of satellites by 2015? Better get busy!
Sounds like a scam to me - just going to take the donations and run.
Iridium already tried this 20 years ago, and went bankrupt. Only when the iridium assets were bought at auction for about $0.01 on the dollar has the company been able to operate the satellite constellation and make a small amount of money, mainly from the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now Iridium is trying to raise the BILLIONS necessary to replace their worn-out satellites.
So if some little start-up, with one of the head guys being an university academic, thinks they can launch hundreds of satellites, operate them on a daily basis, repair/replace them when they break - ALL FOR FREE. My scam radar alarm is sounding.
If it sounds too goo to be true, it usually is...
