Sounds like the plot of “One Second After”, except that attack originated from a freighter in the Gulf of Mexico, so as to allow the missle to reach the center of the country more easily, before exploding. This makes the ‘reach’ of the EMP attack cover the entire continental US.

It was interesting until they said they would use the Klub-k to launch the strike. The Klub series are cruise missiles with a supersonic terminal attack.

EMP attacks need to be at very high altitude, so ballistic missiles would be necessary.

I’ve been thinking the exact same thing except: Why a dry run and not a surprise attack to disable us preemptively so they are free to attack Isreal without the USA distraction?
Who among our “experts” knows how soon Iran will have a nuke or if they already have one? Our defenders are playing a dangerous game and we have no idea what Iran is really capable of.
