I like it better with the slim skirt....without the voluminous ‘wings’. Would have been quite elegant.

I liked the full skirt - if it was just a skirt like I thought - with Michelle’s height. Very grand. I’d look silly in it!

@michellemalkin I will admit I do like the First Lady’s dress but the Beyonce reference went to far. Thanks for making me think about it.

The state dinner was held in a TENT during 17 degree weather... how much carbon was spewed into the atmosphere by heating this event?

There sure is some income inequality.....because I could never afford a dress like that!

Elegant dress.Kind of like painting over dirt when she wears it though.

YES!! That was my thought too...TOO funny!

It takes more than an elegant dress (which I actually thought looked a little too "60's prom queen bouffant") to look elegant...you have to know how to wear it, and walk in it!!

I wonder if she sat down for dinner? with that skirt? did she have petticoats/crinolines? LOL!

I am sure they purchased carbon offsets/s

BTW, does anyone know how to get into the carbon offset business? Talk about a high margin business. PT Barnum would have loved the people who buy that crap.

Agree! What was with the "seed pod" flappy side wings on the skirt?!

However, FLOTUS did look quite lovely from the waist up (as long as she wasn't walking - hehe!) - lovely top half of a dress!

You know I don’t even care about that. The FLOTUS needs to look good for state dinners etc.

The thing that frosts my grits is the millions of dollars for vacations and travel. Now thats big money. $100,000 to fly the frickin dog somewhere for vacation. Thats the deal breaker.

That would be my dream dress with the slimmer skirt only and a nice darker rich blue. Wow!

IMO that’s a horrid dress! The top is fine but the bottom doesn’t go with it. The bottom looks like someone took a bolt of fabric and wrapped it around with no regard for height or space. I wouldn’t pay $12.00 for it.

You are right, the dress was comical at best. It was an attempt to hide the disproportionally big azz Michelle is endowed with. The bottom part of dress looked like a tent and did not match the top.

As for who paid for the dress.....I am sure Barry did not pay it from his personal checking account. It could have been paid by a donor. But a donor donates because he/she gets some type of favor back from the politicians. So we all pay, directly or indirectly.

i disagree... i think the dress is beautiful... but i admit to being biased because i am a fan of Carolina Herrera... Michelle did not wear the dress well... she is too "cloddy." then she added the velvet boob belt/sash... ugh...

could it be that the designer loaned her the dress? other designers have done so... or could it be that Ms. Herrera gifted her the dress? i tried to find out, but learned nothing, really...

anyway, i do feel like i have spent too much of time commenting on this dress--which seems trivial... however, i do think it is important to know whether or not our tax dollars paid for it... i think not, but it is the Obamas... they are living high off the hog... but i want to know what is true, not mere speculation...

Yes, the top needed a slim skirt - thanks for saying that. I was thinking it but failed to express it
