This undated image provided by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory shows a deuterium and tritium capsule, sphere in window at center, inside a cylindrical hohlraum container about 0.4 inches tall. In research reported Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 by the journal Nature, scientists say they've taken a key step toward harnessing nuclear fusion as a new way to generate power, an idea that has been pursued for decades. In tests, 192 laser beams briefly fired into the small gold cylinder which held the two kinds of hydrogen. The energy from the lasers kicked off a process that compressed the ball by an amount akin to squeezing a basketball down to the size of a pea, said Debbie Callahan, an author of the paper. That created the extremely high pressure and temperatures needed to get the hydrogen atoms to fuse. Photo: Eddie Dewald, AP

This is really interesting and its real. Granted its not going to lead to fusion reactors tomorrow but its progress.

“Fusion power would avoid the need for long-term storage of radioactive waste. And unlike fossil fuels like coal, it would not produce greenhouse gases that cause global warming.”
BUT!
It DOES PRODUCE ENERGY, which is what the envirowhackos and the Population Control crowd REALLY HATE.
The “pollution” and “warming” memes are just scare tactics, to hide their true agenda.

Don’t buy it...kind of like windmills...you need grease (and lots of it) to lubricate the bearings. How much will it cost to create viable fusion reactors and maintain them? Likely more that it’s worth.

No big deal. Kevmo has an order in for his home cold fusion reactor to be delivered early this year.

They forgot to tell you that these laser fusion reactions give off millions+++ and bizillions of soft neutrons which are good for killing enemy tankers but leaving the tank unharmed.

hundreds of $billions spent on the controlled hot fusion (CHF) scam, and basically nothing to show for it. If we had spent 2% of that on cold fusion, we’d have had nuke cars for at least a decade.

Didn’t Sen. Fienstien cut funding to LLNL last year? I’ve heard over 300 engineers/mechanical designer jobs were cut or about to be.
