I've controlled air traffic for over 30 years, and I've seen pilots take an acrobatic plane like that RV and stand it on its' tail in a hover with engine power.
I can tell you from years of experience that

In all your years as ATC, have you ever seen a high horsepower (high weight) performance aircraft with with tiny cylindrical spring steel landing gear and no wheel fairings ?

Have you ever seen a plane like that hit the runway and bounce up twice into the air at a speed too low to promote lift ?

Well, I stand corrected, but the part with the pilot getting outy of the one winged aircraft was not explained in your link and I still question how they dikd that part of it.

But I'm telling you from 30 years of air traffic control experience that it IS doable, and even doing it, with a model, took a vast amount of flying experience.
