Peter Frampton is in the house band. Gary Clark Jr. is awesome with what he does, but he let Joe shine tonight.

I think the first album I bought was ELO in the mid-1970s. Interesting band.

Am I in before awesome, great, incredible, amazing, unbelievable. oh my God, and other highly descriptive and educational English words?

(I just heard on another thread that Philip Something Hoffman was “awesome, great, incredible, amazing, unbelievable, oh my God”. He must have been connected to this project!)

BTW, in 2008, NASA beamed the song “Across the Universe” out into space. It was done as memorial to the 40th anniversary of the song’s release and the 45th anniversary of NASA’s Deep Space Network. You can read about it here:http://www.nbcnews.com/id/22951001#.UvhMfP07jz0.

>>A good number of people do not realize how talented Prince is.

His appearance and ‘shtick’ initially turned me off but I later realized as you said, just how talented and committed a musician he is.

I agree and he stole the show. Where did the guitar go?

. . . . Prince generally being a weirdo that he’s an astounding musician and pretty amazing guitarist?

Yeap pretty amazing guitarist I didn't know who he was. The guy is only 5'2"? Even my little 4 year old boy liked his lead adlib sounds.

I heard the Beatles used other instrumentalists (lead guitarists, percussionists) in their studio versions? It wasn't really Ringo doing the drums?

Let’s not forget Mr Clapton played lead on the original Studio version.

From Rick Carr, The Chancellor of The College of Rock and Roll Knowledge®. The Beatles 50th Grammy show is now history. I know there will be differing opinions on if it was good or bad and on the choice of the artists they had on the show. I really don't like to express my thoughts as I feel it is better for this page to let our friends carry on the conversation. However, I do feel they missed what would have been a historic moment. I would have loved to have seen, James McCartney, Sean Lennon, Dhani Harrison and Zak Starkey play a Beatles song, live from The Ed Sullivan Theater. I think that would have brought tears to my eyes and created a "moment in time", just like their Dad's did 50 years ago tonight. — with Zak Starkey, James McCartney, Dhani Harrison and Sean Lennon.

There is a very good clip of Eric Clapton alone in the studio recording the solos for the original.

I remember seeing that clip a while ago. The young man on the acoustic guitar to Tom Petty's left is George Harrison's son. And yes, Prince displayed his phenomenal talent in that clip.

Yes I just saw the Youtube video "Eric Clapton - While my guitar gently weeps HQ Concert for Geroge" his lead ad-lib did sounds like the original studio version, LOL.

So who were then those "Alex Acuña" kind drummers they used behind the scene?
