Why didnt they bring their own pillows? You carry your own pillow on international trips or anywhere else? Weird.

Do you know how that hotel pillow was used by the previous occupants of the room? Pillows aren't just for sleeping. A changed pillow case only covers up dried bodily fluids in the pillow.
I'd guess you would think twice about renting used sneakers, why not a pillow?

I bet the Brazil games are going to be even more of a cluster than Sochi. You bet..Should be a interesting Olympic to say the least...
Brazil has one of the highest crime rates in the world...murder, gang violence, kidnapping, mugging, petty thief and of course rampant drug use and trafficking...

You’d think they’d have packed their own pillows so they’d have a good nights’ sleep.

I buy my clothes at the thrift store; they’re all used.

My ex-wife did. She was allergic to feather pillows, and most of the small European hotels only had the down pillows. I spend few miserable nights traveling around Germany until we were able to find a shop that sold anti-allergic pillows.

You’re missing my point.
You can put on clean clothes over a dirty body.
A clean pillow case is put over a dirty pillow.
Clothes are washed and thus rendered clean. Same goes for pillow cases. The pillows are not cleaned, washed, disinfected. They are only covered with a clean pillow case which smells heavenly covering up a multitude of “stains”. The stains entered the pillow and permeated the foam or down which wasn’t cleaned. You’d want to rest your head on those?
To: Cowboy Bob
Well that’s not weird; it’s rational. The other reason for doing it is O-C and highly eccentric.
