You’ll note the courtesans around the edge of the dancers, as if at a court ball.
Russian history they were supposed to forget ever happened for almost 70 years..

Interesting story. My father was an industrial photographer and he went up to Expo ‘67 to help cover it with KDKA-TV IIRC. I think they used some of his stills at the TV station as well.

What could possibly be worse than the bastard nobility? The communists.

Hey, no doubt...good stuff. Tchaikovsky was a genius. Serenade for Strings is my favorite work of his.

Yeah, maybe the nobility were not that great but I think out of the two, the Commies were worse. I think over time, the nobility would have learned to deal. According to family history, I’d like/need to verify that, my great-great grandfather was a general in the Red Army in the Russian Revolution and knew and worked with Lenin. He did have the wisdom to tell his son, my great grandfather to get out and go to America, later on, he was drafted in our army to fight World War I. His wife was a Russian Jew, she got burned out by the cossacks twice and fled to America.

Yeah, IIRC, my Dad did say they did get bumped when one of the governors of PA passed on at the time, but they did use some of his work IIRC.

LOL, one only needs to read “The Gulag Archipelago” to hear it in perspective. The comparative treatment of political prisoners under the Tsars, and under the communists.
Pretty striking comparison.

Everybody is calling this a celebration of communism but this seems to be pretty darkly themed.

They traded a royal handcuff for a state handcuff.
I really do feel an empathy for the Russians.

Yeah, it is a bit like Orwell’s 1984, a bit fascistic if you ask me. Very dark.
