Except for the Miracle on Ice, I think that was the last time I got completely excited about the Olympics. I remember watching that Franz Klammer run on a sunny afternoon.
Of course, I was at NATTC Memphis at the time, so...what else was I gonna do except clean up cigarette butts outside the mess hall?
Now, I do love those uniforms. Very 18th century.
I do admit, since the end of the Cold War, the Olympics haven’t been the same, there was so much of the “Us vs Them” thing back then.
