This last weekend, the sorry HEB here was out of all brands of sugar. The only sugar on the shelves were two 10 lbs and two 20 lb bags. Also, just two boxes of corn dogs. It had nothing to do with the weather, just more poor management. They don’t have large sizes of anything anymore so we have to pay more for the small sizes. There’s no 3 days away from empty shelves here. It’d be 3 hours since we’re starting out half empty already. I always come home with a good portion of the grocery list not bought.

I was freaked the first time I had to buy beef at the grocery store. To top it off, it wasnt wrapped in butcher paper. Was raised on grass feed beef and home slaughtered.

I could be wrong, it was 1980, but I remember them being 5-packs.

And the no need to presoak beans can be cooked in a thermos by just adding them to a thermos with boiling water, closing it up and waiting a couple or three hours. When the beans expand over time wouldn't it cause an "explosion" in the the sealed Thermos?
Would this then be considered a delayed timer bean bomb?

The beans expand by absorbing water. Beans bigger, water smaller.
The Law of Conservation of Mass says “not a problem”.
Now, if the beans start to ferment, you’ve got a problem.

I always come home with a good portion of the grocery list not bought. That happens to us every once in a while too. Not often, and if we need something in an emergency we have a local grocery store that has most items. Most are a bit more expensive, but it is so much closer.

Then you could eat the beans and have another bean bomb, right?

Ready to eat soup as in ‘no water needed’?

What size of PB do you bring? I fly a lot, but worry about the TSA side of it. I once saw them try to force a man to throw out a can of tuna fish.

Exactly. No-water-needed soup, especially with the easy-open lid is a nice addition to anyone’s emergency food.
