We had to kneel on the tennis court..

Our hems had to reach the ground and not bend too much..

Our head mistress considered us untidy if our hems were too long..

Our uniforms had to reach to the middle of the knee.

that ashfelt was uncomfortable to kneel on...

Back in *those days*....I had a PT job as a dining room hostess in a lovely restaurant....run by a Canadian woman who was a stickler for propriety.

She’d check hemlines. If you skirt rose up too high in the back, if you were reaching across the table to serve or set-up a service...she would have a fit.....and send tyou home.

After the nuns...she was about the most strict on such things. Her business, her rules.

I don’t think any of us suffered from having these rules applied ....today there would be a lawsuit so that our *feelings* wouldn’t be offended. LOL

You got off easy-must have been one of those permissive orders.Ours were Marianites. We had to kneel on RICE if our skirts were too short. Of course that meant that we rolled up our skirts the MINUTE we left home, down at school, then up again on the way home.
