Either the attackers wanted the instrument for themselves, or they conducted this heist at the behest of someone else — a contract robbery.

I’d say with 90% certainty that it was a contract job. Most likely for a foreign buyer who won’t fear showing it off.

Pretty much no chance that it was a random crackhead since the case was ditched.

The only other possibility is some fool that did an inside job simply to hold on to the piece
