Jerry Seinfeld won the Super Bowl. But it was seriously close: He almost got beat by a puppy. But choices have to be made, and at deadline, the pup comes in second.
A great Super Bowl for ads? Not great but reasonably good, with only a few ads that were far off the mark, even fewer that assaulted sensibilities and stomachs. That in itself is an accomplishment. This was the year of the tease (Seinfeld) and the year where fewer ads were pre-released in the hopes that viewers would pay closer attention, or at least be surprised.

The best:
1. Seinfeld Reunion/Crackle: That old tease, Jerry Seinfeld, told listeners of WFAN last week that his "Seinfeld" reunion wasn't a Super Bowl commercial, then amended that by saying it was "not not" one either. The dead giveaway there. But as it appeared Sunday night, at Tom's Restaurant, with Jerry and George and Newman supplying the kicker, this was the Super Bowl ad we all live for -- a fun, well-executed, surprise that made us (me) miss "Seinfeld" all over again. Plus, his "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" is worth the plug.
2. Budweiser: Puppy Love: Little to do with beer but everything to do with puppy love, and love of horses, and love of country, and love . . . running out of "loves" here, but this one was smothered in them, and effectively so. Plus, I loved it.
3. Audi's "Dober-hua-hua": Some people on Monday will argue that this was the best ad of the night, and I won't argue with them. (Except: See above.) Funny, silly and absolutely no doberhuahuas were injured in the making of this ad. Best part: When the critter eats up Sarah McLachlan's guitar.

Taken as a whole, I agree. Of course, I still miss the half-time "Butt-Bowl" by Mike Judge.
Agreed. More PC slop from the media.
Just watched the Coke ad. Think I’ll drink Pepsi tomorrow.
Only saw the puppy/Bud commercial on Youtube. Did not turn on the game. That commercial won. Not a Seinfeld fan.
worst ever, i think... i thought the Seinfeld commercial fell flat... and Jerry and George looked weird... the make up too obvious...
for me, the highlight of the entire Superbowl was the singing of the National Anthem... spectacularly done... best i can remember!
our entire household had a negative reaction to that commercial... as far as the Maserati ad, a few in our house thought it was a going to be a commercial about anti-bullying...
Did you like the KIA luxury car commercial?
Hint: This is what luxury sounds like. ; )
Yep...I didn’t like that one at all.
I did not watch the game nor the commercials.
But so many seem offended by the multi-language Coke commercial. Was this the same Coke comemrcial that showed the gay couple skating? I’d be infinitely more offended by that than what language they were speaking.
Didn’t anyone else see the Bob Dylan piece? I loved it, and kept whispering, “Please don’t be about Government Motors”; I meant GM. I was hoping it was about Ford. Ended up being about Chrysler, which was kind of in between for me. Anyway, the production values in that one were first-rate.
Yes, that’s the one. And yes, that was the worst part of a commercial that went out of its way to be offensive on many levels.
Still well done, though.
I only hope that it wasn't done with taxpayer $.
But I have my doubts.
Me too. I was REALLY pissed off at it. I never drink soda, but that makes me want to start boycotting Coke.
“Jack Bauer / 24 commercials. Do those count?”
They are the only ones that did.
Dale Jr. duck call by Mountain Dew was the best, followed by the Dobehuahua, IMO.
