Pretty cool (pun intended). And no political prisoners as far as the eye can see . . . .

Oymyakon has never reported a temperature above freezing between October 25 and March 17 of any given year.
But for a short time in the summer, it does get hot. Average high is 73 in July.

Wow. I bet that they get their “business” done in short order in those ice-cold outhouses! :-)

I’d hate to think of the jog through -50 weather to use the out house.

WOW!
January temperature at -58 degrees Fahrenheit!
Just think how much colder it would be if we didn’t have man-made global warming.....

Towards the beginning of the video in the referenced article, I noticed that the gentleman (male voices) holding the digital thermometer spins the probe in circles. Doesn’t spinning the probe possibly introduce false lower temperature readings as a result of artificial wind chill?

pronounced Oh-my-achin’ as in Oh my aching’ bones just thinking how cold it is there.

Without heat from fossil fuels they’d be out in the cold.

That’s where they should have had the WINTER Olympics.
One would think they’d have a number of graves pre-dug in the summer.
That puppy looks like he wants out of the cold.

Earlier this month I spent a night in a town about 200 miles north of Montreal during which the temp fell to -42c which I think translates to something like -46F.My first task when I arrived was to fill my tank so I went to a big Shell station. They said their diesel pumps weren't working because it was too cold.Fortunately the station down the street had functioning diesel pumps.I can assure you folks that even a minute in that cold in beyond description.
And beyond belief.
