There is an epidemic of heroin problems in the country. You can go to your local Obit page in the paper and on line and see young people dying from heroin. It never says junky died because he switched suppliers and did not know the quality but that is what much of it is. You can probably get heroin with in a few miles of your house without any issue. Also look at the uptick in petty crimes and break ins in your area. Many of them are also related to drugs.

Very sad loss.

Wonder where the heroin is coming from.

OK,
is that the movie where the guy runs around in a bathrobe drinking white russians?

And I did see “Twister”, also, but his role must have been unmemorable in it.

“He’s admitted to heroin addiction previously. Supposedly, there is a mix of heroin and Fentanyl out there.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fentanyl

Fentanyl is very, very powerful. A possible overdose to my elderly mother in law, sent her to the emergency room.

A relapse by an addict alcoholic is nothing to be surprised about.

But there are also many addicts/alcoholics in the entertainment world, with long term sobriety.

Sir Anthony Hopkins, Eric Clapton, Robert Downey Jr., Alice Cooper, John Williams, Sir Elton John, Ringo Starr, Bill Ward etc.

Others entertainers with sobriety have relapsed including Mel Gibson, Stephen Tyler, Nick Nolte, etc.

Too bad about Hoffman. He was among the most talented actors of this time.

Yes, he was the guy (in Big Lebowski) who played the butler and got really nervous when the white-russian drinking guy in the bathrobe started handling all those pictures on the wall. Classic.

He has three children with a long time girlfriend so he is decidedly heterosexual. However, he has played a number of gay roles, so he was definitely not portraying himself.

On IMDB he claims his favorite role was the one he played in 'Magnolia'. I loved that film, and I thought he did an amazing job in it.

At one point he has to look out the window and see it raining frogs after his client had just died. The look on his face was priceless.

I’ve seen him portray Philip Seymour Hoffman in Red Dragon, Boogie Nights, The Big Lebowski, and Catching Fire. In Capote he portrayed Truman Capote. I haven’t seen enough of his films to truly come to any conclusions on his acting abilities.

Same here, I liked him, but after seeing the same him several times, some of it wore off.

A rich man in his 40s dying with a dope needle in his arm, to me he telegraphed some sort of prideful arrogance that didn't bode well for his future, this doesn't shock me much.

I guess he won’t be pretending to be Howie Carr, during any possible future movie/TV series about Whitey Bulger.

I recently got to know a man who has fought heroin addiction for years. He told me that it costs less than $10 for the amount of heroin a new user would need.
