That was really beautiful! To our friends in Taiwan, Happy New Year and may you always be free.

Marvelous talent! It would have been nice to have English subtitles—but I loved it just the same.
When my husband was in the Air Force and stationed at Bolling AFB in DC, he was a member of the President’s Honor Guard.
We recently drove back to DC for a reunion of the Honor Guard guys.
Anyway, because of this, the very first “flash mob” I ever saw was the USAF band! I can’t help but wonder if their selection of music would be allowed today?

I never saw so many Senior NCOs in one spot in my life. Band leader a General?
To: Little Bill
My husband found that quite “interesting” also
.
What did you think of their musical selections?

I experienced Chinese New year in Taiwan in 1977,78,79,and 80. Taiwan was magic for me, my Left Bank of the 1920s.
I'll share a little fun with Chinese language with my fellow Freepers. Chinese,
being tonal, means the same sound changes meaning depending upon the tone (there are 4 in Mandarin). We 20 somethings there studying Chinese hit upon the following:
If you say: "jiao tung bu fang bian" one way, it means: the traffic is heavy (ie inconvenient).
But if you alter the tones slightly, it becomes: if your foot hurts, don't put excrement on it.
I guess that perhaps mitigates Jimmy Carter's famous "lusting for the Pole" gaffe.
