Current Movies Good For Dates?

Posted on 01/31/2014 8:40:48 AM PST by ConservativeMan55

So I was looking at some good date movies out to take my girlfriend to tonight.. and I've really been wanting to see Lone Survivor.

BUT.. I read the reviews and it sounds like there is a lot of cussing and grapic-ness.

Maybe more of a movie you'd go see with some dudes. But taking a girl.. maybe not.

Any other recommendations??

It’s a series. Season 3 is called Coven. It’s about witches. Jessica Lange stars in it. It’s scary, can be a bit gory and some language, but I enjoyed it.

Did American Hustle have any graphicness to it?

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is an enjoyable, light fantasy.

I just had my squeamish daughter hide her eyes when it got too tough. And then I had to needle her a bit because she is a wound care nurse that sees some stuff that is worse. I think it is the battlefield noises that set her nerves on edge.

My apologies to your wife. Should not have been so snarky.

Back when I was married my wife sent me to the store to rent “50 first dates”.

I had picked it up and was browsing the other movies when this mother and her little 7 year old girl comes in. The mother says, “Look there’s 50 first dates.” and the little girl says “If only men were really like that.” That’s when I knew I was on a fool’s errand.

First rule of date movies. Stay away from movies where the hero does things that are impossible to measure up to. Gravitate to movies where the men make you look good.

But yah I think she just genuinely enjoys spending time together! She probably wouldn’t care what we did.

Sounds like a nice girl! Hope it works out for you.

Yes, some quasi-graphic sex, LOTS of language, and is long, but clever and phenomenal acting by the two stars and two co-stars.

I can’t get my wife to see many movies at all-—maybe 3 in the last three years. She liked “Tower Heist,” “American Hustle,” but won’t go see an action flick at all. I don’t go to many because of the crowd behavior-—which, in the last year, seems to have gotten better, but then again I tend to only go to “adult” movies. I did see “Iron Man 3” and “Gravity” and “Catching Fire” in theaters and it was an ok experience.

As a patriotic, conservative woman, I can tell you that a lot of us cannot handle war movies. They reduce me to a depressed angry puddle of tears.

My husband wants me happy, frisky and energized on date nights.

'Waking Ned Devine' was a GREAT movie about elderly residents in a small town in Ireland who decide to go out of their way to win the lottery.

Watch this movie at home and you will NOT be disappointed. Seriously, just stay home and enjoy.

The hijacking of the Maersk Alabama off of Somalia back in 2010. Where they sent the SEALs in to pick off the pirates? Hanks played the captain.
