So I was looking at some good date movies out to take my girlfriend to tonight.. and I've really been wanting to see Lone Survivor.
BUT.. I read the reviews and it sounds like there is a lot of cussing and grapic-ness.
Maybe more of a movie you'd go see with some dudes. But taking a girl.. maybe not.
Any other recommendations??
Do you think it would be an OK movie to take a date to?
Here are two that I would like to see.

Dragged the boyfriend to “Saving Mr. Banks” and he enjoyed that. Dragged him to “Nebraska” and he didn’t. We both liked “Lone Survivor” but it did earn it’s R rating in a number of areas. He owes me big time for making me sit through “Anchorman 2”.
Plus the popcorn is much less expensive; and a bottle of wine is a nice touch!!
Here are two movies I have used in the above situation, The Way; Bottle Shock...
She will greatly admire your creative; yet budget minded alternative!!
We saw Saving Mr Banks a while back and it was GREAT!
I don’t see why not...there is an occasional curse word, but nothing too vulgar. Aniston is very good in the movie as is the rest of the cast. This movie probably will be hard to find still in theaters as it is already out on DVD I think. I pre-ordered it from iTunes so I got it a little early...it still is worth seeing, even if at home.
Movies are expensive.
Two tickets are more than 20 bucks!!
Whatever you do, forget Lone Survivor. Awful movie with people graphically getting their arms and legs broken and their brains blown out. She won’t want to see you for a week if you take her to that. It’s like a true horror story - YUCK
Go rent “The World’s Fastest Indian.”
After the movie, crack open a bottle of wine, and play “Avalon” by Roxy Music.
Lone Survivor is not a date pic, unless she just got out of the Marine Corps. It is a must see if you are a patriot and one who respects the dedication, service and integrity of those who serve in our armed forces. It is tough to see the wounding and pain these brave men went through, but it is necessary to show what dedication and comradeship they had.
Saving Mr Banks.
No cussing. A tear jerker.
Movies aren’t very good nowadays.
Remember if you insist on wasting money in this way, they call them chick flicks for a reason.
Go to them. Don’t care about what you would like to see.
oh my word . . :-)
Thanks for the advice!!!
Do not patronize Hollywood. The only movies worth seeing are not movies you’d take a date to anyway. The rest only funnel money into the hands of America’s enemies.
Go to your local indie house (make sure you check out the fare first; indies can be worse than Hollywood.) Or better yet, avoid the dinner-and-a-movie cliche entirely.
LOL yah I don’t think I would want to see Anchorman 2..
Again, probably has some graphic, nasty stuff in it.
The only way I got him to go was because Tom Hanks was in it and we both like him - “Captain Phillips” was great. But the whole movie is teriffic. “Nebraska”, on the other hand, kind of defies description. Most of the acting was good but the story is kind of a downer.
We would go mini golfing instead but the courses are closed for the winter.
Just bring her over to your place - make a nice roast, Merlot, chocolate mousse for dessert turn out the lights and put on a Zero 7 CD.
What’s Captain Phillips about?
