One of the hardest-working competitors to hit the field at the Super Bowl this weekend isnt a football player shes a stunning Seahawks cheerleader who is also a first lieutenant in the US Air Force.
Rookie Sea Gal Alicia Quaco, 25, works long days as a contract manager for the Air Force before rushing to evening cheerleading practice, where she trades camouflage fatigues for tiny shorts, glittery makeup and pompoms.
Its a lot of costume changes. I dont get to wear normal clothes very often. And I have hardly any free time, she said.

She got permission. The Air Force also used Chad Henning, who like this gal graduated from the AFA for recruiting purposes. The Navy used David Robinson, who went on to an NBA Hall of Fame career. Roger Staubach, Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famer was a Navy Vietnam vet. Rocky Bleier, the great running back for the Steelers was also a Vietnam vet, wounded in action. I don’t think I can remember a Steeler game when Bleier’s military service was not mentioned. From combat infantry, to cheerleader, it’s all fine for recruiting.........
“Before taking on the demanding double life, she first had to convince her military higher-ups in a formal presentation to let her moonlight as a Sea Gal after trying out for the squad last year, she said.
I told them its good for recruitment. It shows that the Air Force is well-rounded, that we can do other things, too. Its great for women recruits to know that, said Quaco.
Ultimately, they ended up agreeing.
I’m not much for fake boo...whatzthat Laz? Yes, I know....No, wait...Laz...I get it Laz....sure, they’re bigguns, Laz....laz....Laz...Laz!!!!....I get it. *sigh* yes, laz, they ALL wonderful.
I never meant to suggest that she didn't have official "permission" or that her superiors weren't,at least, willing to look the other way.The point I was trying to make was that I could see where one of her superiors might have said to her...off the record...that what she was doing wasn't usually associated with the behavior of "an officer and a gentleman" and doing it,while not specifically forbidden by the UCMJ or regulations, might hurt her chances for promotion and/or the more desirable assignments.IMO comparing her activities with David Robinson and Staubach is comparing apples and oranges.
Hey...I rose to the lofty rank of SP5 during my stellar military "career" so what do I know about what goes on in officer country? Maybe I'm just full of beans.
