Because they like to screw up whatever is in the box and jack with whatever human owns the box.

I posted on face book a video that shows even the big cats love boxes...they put boxes in with leopards, tigers lions etc and they were all facinated by big cardboard boxes, jumping in and out of them and chewing on the box etc, just like domestic cats do..don’t know how to post it to FR and following directions to post is complicated for this old lady but easy on facebook to post...
