A REAL-LIFE DEMON POSSESSION IS BEING REPORTED IN INDIANA

A terrified mother claims she watched in horror as her demon-possessed 9-year-old son walked backwards up a wall and ceiling. Her claims would be easy to dismiss if a child services case worker and a nurse weren’t reportedly there to witness it all.

Latoya Ammons claims all three of her children showed signs of being possessed, including “evil” smiles and strangely deep voices, the Indianapolis Star reports. The mother says she also witnessed her 12-year-old daughter levitating in their Gary, Ind., home.

Strangely enough, the scary-sounding incident is outlined in official documents. Further, Gary police Capt. Charles Austin told the Star that he is a “believer” after making several visits to the home and interviewing witnesses. He first thought the family was making stories up as part of a get-rich-quick scheme.

Ammons’ home was “exorcized” by a catholic priest in a number of ceremonies that were reportedly authorized by the Diocese of Gary. The story apparently became so believable that officers with the police department said they were too scared to stay at the house and some city officials wouldn’t even step foot on the property.

See the video I posted too. It has the priest talking about the exorcism and the demon’s reactions to it.

No. I do not believe in possession, and I think exorcism is nothing more than an ancient way of "doing something" to try and deal with the existence of intractable nutcases. I think it's a coping method to help people deal with unexplained and unsettling behavior. That said, It's possible that I'm wrong, and because the mythology of possession by evil spirits seems almost universal across human civilization, I am at least willing to be convinced with some actual evidence. It's just that the lack of any hard evidence is also universal, so I remain a skeptic. It's interesting from a behavioral standpoint if nothing else. For example, if a nut believes he is possessed, and then believes the spirit has been exorcised, does he stop acting like a nut?

Do you believe this particular story is any more valid than the thousands of ghost stories told over the centuries? Or UFO/Bigfoot sightings that multiple witness will swear up and down are legitimate. If so, why?

What accounts for your interest in Satanism?

....Because I have come face to face with one residing in a family member and came out bloodied. I saw the thing and I’m not one to claim something like that if it didn’t happen. I have no need to publicize it. It began when I was just a child and that family member had to be restrained for months. It was the prayers of loved ones that drove away the legions of demons brought in with the Ouija Board. The person lived to be 90 and functioned fairly well, but there was at least one, maybe more, still controlling. When I did something to anger it, it attacked me. Can a 90 year old hurt someone enough to bloody their face? The eyes turned solid black. I fought back in the name of Jesus. I kept at it until the thing left. That family member was finally at peace.

There was no reason for all those entities to take over in a home that was normal and happy, and I am not dressed for the press. I am an educated woman with a Master of Divinity degree. Anyone who has read their Bible knows that demons are real. What was all those “legions” of demons that Jesus cast into the swine? They talked back to Him. Was that a figment of his imagination? The prince of this world has his “angels” too. The only way to fight them is through Jesus Christ.

I have heard of the black eye thing before in psychiatric cases. Hyper-dilation of the pupils in those experiencing extreme anger. The iris doesn’t actually change color, but it looks like it. There’s no point debating matters of faith; I understand the perspective you’re coming from, and I respect that, but I am putting religious claims aside and looking for some evidence that is tangible. I just don’t believe in stories of demons when mental illness can explain the behavior, including lashing out physically. Remember, the people pushing this story alternately claimed the kid walked or slid up a wall backwards. I can’t take anyone’s word on that. It’s Hollywood spook story material, IMO.
