Word For The Day, Monday,1/27/14

;

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

casuistic; adj.

1. pertaining to casuists or casuistry. 2. oversubtle; intellectually dishonest; sophistical: casuistic distinctions. Also, cas·u·is·ti·cal.

Etymology: casuist 1609, "one who studies and resolves cases of conscience," from Fr. casuiste, from L. casus (see case (1)). Often in a sinister or contemptuous sense. Casuistry is first attested 1725. McCormick, urged a more historical approach to natural law, and with it a new appreciation of and fresh ways of approaching the principle of double effect, casuistic reasoning, and weighing various goods and ends in practical matters. The controversies of post-conciliar theology by Hinze, Bradford E. / National Catholic Reporter For many observers the whole unseemly farce that evening in Munich had been stage-managed, written and directed by casuistic promoter Frank Warren, who would match flailing frogs for a fight if some idiot would buy a ticket. If this was a soap the writer would be committed! by Birmingham Mail (England)

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Pivoting to jobs, I see. I’m surprised he isn’t going to Braddock to meet with Fetterman, the Harvard-educated socialist mayor they got going on there.

The latest thing there is a plan to create a fancy-schmancy restaurant using local foods that will also serve as a “training” place for the local population to learn some skills.

But mostly, to allow lefties to eat fine food and congratulate themselves on being progressive. As long as the parking lot is well lit and guarded.

They were begging for money on kickstarter for it.

oh they love those locally grown places. I think i saw one of them in one of the malls here, and i think you just paid by DONATION, if i am not mistaken. It wasn’t a fullblown restaurant just a food courtish kind of place.

The chef couldn’t get funding from any rational source, so he cooked up this idea and the “begging on the internet” to great results.

Of course it can be proven. It’s used on plenty of death certificates after tox screens.

Not dead, not in jail, not in the hospital. I've got food and can go get some beer if I want. Life is good! WOOHOO!!!!

Yeah, couldn't even begin to put an intelligent sentence together for this word this morning. Ugh.

You mean by a fancy restaurant in Braddock, or that you can get $300,000 from idiots on the internet for such?

as the son of a steelworker and someone who works with industrial air regulations now, i can’t even begin to explain how much i hate that hunk of crap showing up at a mill pretending that he doesn’t want them all dead. Hitler visiting a synagogue and pretending to smile; or perhaps the smile is genuine and just for other reasons.

And the sun is up! Who cares about windchills in the single or negative digits? At least we have shelter with heat! And aren’t required to work outdoors!

Too bad we can’t grow cotton here, or they could make their own linens for the tables as well.
