The music giants joined forces to promote marriage equality as both gay and straight couples were married at the same time.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Same Love" anthem became the theme song for 33 newlyweds during the 56th Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
The gay and straight weddings were officiated by Queen Latifah while the hit song about equality was performed by the rap duo with Madonna hitting the stage with them, along with Mary Lambert and jazz artist Trombone Shorty.

"This song is not a love song for some of us but for all of us," said Latifah as she introduced the special segment.
The mass of couples exchanged rings at the same time as the singer pronounced them wed while Madonna emerged to sing her classic "Open Your Heart."

Yep. I used to keep up with some of that.
Some of the older Rockers made it out without being destroyed. One was Skynyrd's piano player Billy Powell. He's passed on now but at some point after the plane crash he became a Christian. My music varies widely. I like Traditional & Southern Gospel, Bluegrass, Country, Folk, & old Rock from 60's - mid 80's.
It's odd the radio's don't play Rockers Gospel music. Clapton did Swing Low Sweet Chariot, Don Henley recorded Uncloudy Day, Aaron Nevile recorded The Lord's Prayer, Charlie Daniels has done numerous Christian songs. What do they play instead? The Atheist Anthem "Imagine" by John Lenon. Even some misguided preachers play it in church. Read the lyrics very depressing. No Savior, no hope, no salvation, no nothing. But hey the world will be as one... NOT!
There is this theme - even accepted by some Christians - that Christian musicians are second-rate, and that is why they don’t have an impact. But it is a lie. Christian musicians are - quite simply - discriminated against.
Elvis was a Christian, Jerry Lee was a (very flawed) Christian, Fats was a Christian, Dion (DiMucci) was and is, a Christian.
I watched Alaska the Last Frontier last night. So did my wife for that matter. I gave up on big four network TV 20 years ago after I got C-Band then later Direct TV. I'll watch reruns of Duck Dynasty before I'll tune into major network shows. I can find plenty of older shows to watch and have a decent video library as well. I don't watch The Grammy's because for years it's been trash and nothing more much like The Super Bowl and other staged events. I take it seriously I just don't watch it.
BTW nothing makes me angrier than being in a waiting room where some office worker has Ellen on the TV. I've seen channels get changed by those sitting in waiting rooms to another station minus Ellen.
What a joke. God will judge us.
I can also remember when Beatles records were being smashed over remarks Lenon made. There is one sure way this nation will come back to GOD and that is when the right to worship is taken away or forbidden under penalty of law. That is our most likely next page in history IMO.
My 94-year-old Catholic mother is a big fan of Ellen, as is my Catholic sister. It makes me weep.
There was the song - I forget the name and the artist - but the lyrics were like, “What if God was one of us, just a stranger on the bus, trying to get home.” Or something like that . . . Christian messages occasionally get through, but usually in distorted form.
They take every venue, every event, and have to gay it. They even take GOD’s sign to mankind He would not again flood the earth and use that for a flag.
I looked the song up. I haven't heard it before. It was written by the two men in the 70's group Abba believe it or not. I saw the names and double checked to make sure.
Oh conservatives have given up for sure. Gimme Shelter the conservative movie that opened this weekend ranked number 22 and didn’t even make a million dollars. No wonder Hollywood doesn’t make more of these movies. What a bomb.
.....And brought back by revolt for freedom.
Well - AS USUAL- they can’t help themselves but wander into territory that shakes a defiant fist at God.
It wasn’t just that they are redefining the definition of marriage - they had to imply they had the endorsement of God Himself by putting Christian imagery up as a backdrop.
They spend the other 364 days of the year bashing Christians - faith - the bible - and traditional Christian values, but last night they actually presented themselves as holy rollers.
“Joan of Arcadia” was the TV show.
The title song, “One of Us”, was sung by Joan Osborne.
btw, she does THE definitive version of “What Becomes of the Broken Hearted” with the Funk Brothers in the salute to Motown. Just an amazing cover!!!

I will watch the events. But this is the first time I will have it muted.
My Mom gets very angry about politics and such - its good to be informed & all - but I always tell her “Mom, put this energy into prayer & focus on Jesus”
The world is heading along in a handbasket - and we should be devout & pray for it.
