The implications on elephant intelligence are profound. I don’t know of another animal who could do as well. I was impressed by the obvious thought process the animal went through before each stroke. Has anyone given a dolphin a paint brush?

True dat. We in Phoenix miss Ruby a lot. She died in 1998, giving birth. The baby died, too.
Hopefully, this elephant can raise as much money for the zoo as Ruby did.

You will notice the trainer ducks out of the way after handing the brush to the animal. On the side you can’t see, the well trained beast is being given trunk movement cues by the trainer. Still the precise control is amazing.

I’ve long believed that elephants are sentient. It’s sad that they are either slaves or becoming extinct. Nobel creatures. Other primates on the other hand are mostly jerks. Sentient maybe but jerks. Same with parrots. I’ve lived with parrots. They have a lot of intelligence but they have no sense of ethics or morals.

And to think, 54 years ago worm paintings were the rage.
Place canvas flat face up.
Put a small bowl of worms mixed with pigment in the center.
Allow the worms to crawl out and to the edge of the canvas.
When done, lift off bowl, and with a small round brush fill in the empty connections to the worm trails.
