OCEANSIDE A county probation officer shot and killed a dog that lunged at her in an aggressive manner Wednesday night in the backyard of an Oceanside house, police said.
SNIP
The probation officer went into the backyard, where the pit bull-mix came after her, the lieutenant said. She shot the dog to protect herself, he said.

The daily + shooting of dogs is a display....a display of dominance.
It is intended to show clearly and unmistakeably that the badgemonkeys
have been granted absolute authority over the flock. The unspoken
message is simple and clear....”we can shoot your dogs with impunity,
we can shoot you and your family with the same impunity, OBEY OR ELSE”.
It was a pitbull
they should be shot
Might as well as been a grizzly bear in the back yard
Aw, man, I try to be a good role model.
Unarmed K-9??? There is no such thing as an unarmed pit bull mix dog.
He should be shot for that crooked goutee.
OK, can’t argue that.
Agree. Hate ‘em.
Welcome back, Chet99.
It's nice to know that visceral unreasoned hatred of a breed of dogs has returned.
The single line in this article that disturbs me the most is:
She was conducting what is known as a Fourth waiver search on a 16-year-old probationer, meaning he had waived his Fourth Amendment rights to demand a search warrant as a condition of his probation.
How can a MINOR WAIVE ANY RIGHT? He doesn't own where he lives, and it's extraordinarily unlikely he's independant...
I know of many, and was one of few independant minors back in the day. NOT ONE of us would have snivelled to be "free" had it meant random searches by the probie po-po.
We would have laughed at the judge... She was conducting what is known as a Fourth waiver search on a 16-year-old probationer, meaning he had waived his Fourth Amendment rights to demand a search warrant as a condition of his probation.
How far a stretch is THAT?!?
happened here as well.....someone sicced their pitbull on another cop and was mauling him pretty bad when the woman cop showed up and pulled the dog off and blasted it.
I doubted the story until I saw the woman cop....she looked like a Female Russian Shot Putter.
visceral unreasoned hatred
Redundant, and wrong. Killing pitbulls, and the lengthy imprisonment of any pitbull owner who harms a human, is perfectly reasonable.
I kill fire ants. It may be visceral, and possibly hatred, but not "unreasoned".
