Yes, the quick interview after the game made Richard Sherman look like quite a jerk, taking the emphasis off of what the team did and having people focus on him. But maybe he is not the "thug" many are citing. The video shows him saying "Helluva game...helluva game" and extending his hand to Crabtree. You decide if that was meant to be a taunt. The two have a history. According to reports, at a charity golf tournament last year, Sherman went to shake Crabtree's hand and Crabtree tried to start a fight. Maybe things are not exactly as they first appeared.

Of all the things I hate the most about this time of year, Super Bowl hype is the worst.

Sorry ... I still see it as a taunt from Sherman. Crabtree and his team had just lost, give him some time to cool off and then offer a sincere (which this was not) handshake after the game is officially over - not directly after the play when emotions are still running high.

As a resident of Western Washington and a Seahawks fan, things are not as they appeared with Mr. Sherman.

Mr. Sherman is an aggressive hard working player on the field and a much admired young man off the field in this area.

Mr. Sherman is not anything like Ray Lewis or any other player who has as violent off field life as they do on gameday.

Why hasn’t anybody talked about the clothesline hit a 49er in street clothes put on a Seahawk special teams player on the 9er sideline? That was far more egregious behavior, thuggish actually to use the word de jour, than anything Richard Sherman did last Sunday.

This is way overblown. The guy was still amped up from his last play and winning the game when he was interviewed.

That said, he is really, really good and I hope the Broncos brain trust can come up with a way to handle him.

This whole thing is so blown out of proportion it’s unreal. And it’s being done for one reason - to protect that idiot feminist interviewer who should never have been down there on the field in the first place, let alone asking questions of someone in such a hyper-state.

He’d been in a balls-out fight all game with the SF WR, and just made an incredible play that was chosen specifically to shame him, against all strategy and logic, just for spite - and it failed, and he nailed the superbowl for his team. Of course he was pumped! And that was the real story - not this fake feminism outrage that is clearly intended to slam football even harder to get it out of high schools.

It’s the feminization of football, right in front of everyone’s eyes. And it’s sickening how everyone is going along with it. Five minutes after this event, he gave a perfectly calm interview, because he had an opportunity to calm down. It was a “gotcha” from a lipsticked, prim and proper, pearl f*****g earringed journolist with a very nasty agenda.

Wake the hell up, America!

“The only reason it bothers me is it seems like it’s an accepted way of calling someone the N-word nowadays. It’s like everybody else said the N-word and they said thug and they’re like, ‘that’s fine,’ That’s where it kind of takes me aback. It’s kind of disappointing because they know. What is the definition of a thug, really?”
~ Richard Sherman

"Thug" is now a racist word? LOL.

It would not surprise me in the least that Crabtree is also a jerk. That said Sherman had a thuggish outburst on TV. When people who witnessed the thuggish outburst called him a thug he then went on the record saying that those who described him as a thug were really racists using a code word for an n-bomb. This racialist intimidation cements in my mind that he is a thug, albiet smarter than most. I would love to see the Sherman supporters on FR rationalize his latest thuggery.

I watched the video.

I see nothing amiss in saying “Helluva game...helluva game” and walking away, but I wasn’t on the field and I am not Michael Crabtree.

Best to go celebrate with one’s own team mates, ya think?

Crabtree would be behind Baldwin on the Seattle depth chart if he were a Seahawk.

What can you say? It was a great play. Not only a display of world class athleticism, but a masterful display of presence of mind and focus.

Shame it was overshadowed by allegations of poor sportsmanship. I didn’t see any from either.
