The story says that the stores sold out of bottled water, which is hardly a surprise. I don't think that anyone in the area actually died from dehydration.

“Immediately after the announcement, the stores in the area were rushed for any bottled water products. Within an hour the stores were emptied.”

People who read your threads will spend that hour loading some surprises up as they are already prepared

Aww come on! I was there when it happened it was not as bad as that pictures shows!

Plus to the credit of all the emergency personal/volunteers who helped distribute water all over the county I say "two thumbs up". Yes a lot of us had to go without showers but we at least had drinking water.

Plus with 24 hours our local Wal Mart had tons of water in stock!

Not only that Wal Mart actually rolled back the prices! Instead of .88 cents for a gallon it was only .55 cents. So no one can accuse Wal Mart of price gouging.

Seriously I was happy to see how this was handled.

Now lets find the idiot who put the hole in the pipes, or at least that is what the rumor going around is.

My sister-i-law told me what happened in Los Angeles back in 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

It looked like we were on the verge of war! PANIC ensued! People were storming the grocery shelves, grabbing food off the shelves as fast as they could, as much as they could get in a cart and car!

People were fleeing the city as fast as they could! Wrecks were at many intersections! Roads became blocked due to wrecks! Choked streets with people trying to flee any way they could!

Meanwhile we in the middle of the USA were glued to the TV trying to figure what we needed to do. The freezers were full, we had lots of canned food, but the pucker factor was still there.
Then it all came to an end, we thought.

That December 31, about 10 PM, there was a break in the news for a FLASH! NORAD had spotted incoming over the DEW Line in Canada! The pucker factor returned!

Then they showed a silly photo of Santa Clause with fake clouds floating by.

We were relieved, but POed at the same time because it was too close to the October crisis and we were still on edge.
