Why don’t they just make the point after kick a playable act. If the opposing teams blocks it, the ball is in play.
Will make the players work harder to block it. Also add if the kicking team recovers and puts it in the endzone it is 2 points.
Problem solved with minimal effort.
But they aren’t allowed to block it hardly...they removed the jumping through the middle off another player for safety reasons. And that’s why it’s really automatic now.
Football has really changed with all the “safety” stuff. This year it’s been crazy with offense because defense has to be extra careful when hitting or they’ll get a penalty.
They should go back to the old school leather helmet and soft pads. Then they players won’t have long term head injuries because now they use their “safety” gear as a weapon.
Block rate on field goals is pretty low, and gets worse as it gets closer and the kicker can kick at a higher angle. “Encouraging” block attempts on the PAT probably wouldn’t even double the misses.
