FOREST ACRES, SC Two suspects are at large Tuesday, after a Monday night home invasion in Forest Acres left a third suspect dead after a shootout with one of the people in the home.
Just before midnight, the three knocked on a back door of a home in 3500 block of Linbrook Drive, Forest Acres Police Chief Gene Sealy said at a news conference Tuesday.
One of six adults in the rental home at the time answered, Sealy said, and the three burst in and started firing handguns in the air, demanding money.
Another adult in the home fired at the suspects, Sealy said, and one of them was hit and died at the scene.
His identity will be released later Tuesday, Sealy said.
The other two suspects fled on foot and were last seen hopping a fence on Two Notch Road, Sealy said.
It was unclear whether the suspects and any of the six in the home knew each other, Sealy said, but the chief is calling the incident random at this point.
Sealy also said it was unclear whether any gang members were involved.
We dont have any information to corroborate that now, it very well could be, Sealy said.
No one in the home was injured by gun fire, but one occupant was pistol-whipped by one of the suspects and treated at the scene, Sealy said.
Forest Acres Police are working with the Richland County Sheriffs Department, which arrived first on the scene. Law enforcement officials were at the home throughout the night following the incident.
It’s sad....
It’s sad this guy couldn’t cap all three.
Shouldn’t there be an OSHA investigation? That trailer definitely constitutes and unsafe workplace for professional income redistributors.
I am sure the perpes are “teens.”
Abiit nemine salutato - He went away without bidding anyone farewell.
Now that right there is funny, I don't care who ya are
“really wasn’t trying to justify attack, just a possible reason.
..still glad, one prep dead..needs better gun control (aiming/stance :)”
yeah, i kind of figured that, and didn’t mean to imply it.
